Beauty is Pain… Or Is It?

Monday, March 19th, 2012

The statement “beauty is pain” is a commonly thrown around phrase used to make light of some of the more ridiculous things we put ourselves through in order to appear more glamorous or in style. However, how many of us have actually stopped to think about – or look into – how what we choose to put on actually affects us beyond the temporary pain?

Being in the apparel industry, oftentimes we think of how to keep up with the latest trends, and sometimes we even consider how the material we use might effect the environment. But often we overlook how we can simply be friendly to our own selves as well.

Lucky for us, The Wall Street Journal recently posted an article on just that. Covering everything from jeans to neck ties to earrings and shoes, this article covers many trendy apparel and accessory items that, beyond the outward appearance, may not be so friendly to our bodies after all.

Whether we are designing, producing, or purchasing these apparel and accessory products, it is important that we not give all of our focus to what is fashionable and end up making a faux pas that could cost us our health.

Style is important, yes. As is being environmentally friendly. But as producers and consumers of the apparel industry, we must not forget about ourselves in the process. It is not that some of these objectives can only be accomplished at the expense of another. They all can work together to produced fashion that is eco- and health-friendly.

So next time you go shopping or are designing a new product, don’t just think about how it will influence your peers or impact the environment. Remember yourself, and your health. That’s a fashion choice you won’t regret.

The Ease of Online Order Management

Wednesday, March 14th, 2012

Many times we get emails with requests from new customers wanting to place an order or get a quote. However, the easiest way to accomplish this—whether you are a new or existing customer—is to use our online system. This ensures that your request and all of your instructions are in one place and do not get lost in the mix. Also, our online ordering form prompts you to give specific instructions regarding various details of the design that are easy to overlook if just sending in a request via email.

If you already have an account, simply log into your account and select the “Order Digitizing” option at the top of your page. From there, you can select whether you want to place a quote or an order.

If you do not yet have an account, rest assured that signing up for a customer account with Edigitize is absolutely free (and always will be!). Simply visit www.edigitize.com and select the “Register” button at the top right corner of the page. For a step-by-step visual on how this works, view our short video tutorial on setting up a Customer Account below, or of course, feel free to call us toll-free at 1-877-349-6586.

Speed Up Your Order by Being Specific!

Monday, March 12th, 2012

Want to know how to get your order completed faster?!

Of course you do.

Giving us the most specific, detailed instruction about a design upfront enables us to place an order directly into processing without us having to put it on hold and ask questions about how exactly you want the design digitized. One common problem area we see a lot here at Edigitize is in the area of color fading, or gradients. Many times, customers will place an order for a design that includes color fading, but not specify how they want us to digitize it.

A simple way to speed up the turnaround time on your order is to look over a design before submitting it and make sure you inform us of how you want us to handle any gradients (or color fading) that are on the artwork.

When you place your order, there will be an Advanced Options section. In this area of the order form, you have the option to select that your design includes color fading, and then tell us how you want it done. Your options range from us digitizing the design with 1 solid color only (no color fading), or using 2 or 3 thread colors to accomplish the fade. You may also select that we match the artwork you provided as closely as possible. If  you select the option to specify below, make sure you provide us with detailed instructions on what you want done in order to avoid your order being placed on hold for us to ask more questions.

The Advanced Options section also includes other areas of possible design elements for you to be sure to tell us exactly how you want us to handle your artwork. These options include common design elements like borders, outlines, and drop shadows. By specifying ahead of time how you would like us to handle each element of your design, we are able to streamline the processing of your order and turn it around much faster than if we have to put it on hold and ask more questions.

If you need further instruction on this, here is a quick video tutorial on the Edigitize Order Form:
